Neon world SDK

Make worlds in Unity.
Visit them in Neon.

Build a world in Unity with your own models, lights and sounds, add grabbable things, teleporters and code blocks, and publish it straight to Neon. Anyone can visit it from Other Worlds.

You'll need

Set up

  1. In Unity Hub, create a new project from the Universal 3D template.
  2. Open Window › Package Manager, click +, choose Install package from tarball…, and pick the file you downloaded.
  3. Open Neon › World SDK. If it says VR isn't switched on, click Turn on.
  4. Want an example? Neon › Create Sample World makes a small finished world to explore.

Build your world

Make your scene as you would any Unity scene. Then right-click in the Hierarchy and look under Neon:

World Descriptor
Every world needs one: its name, spawn points, how far you can fall, and max players.
Pickup
Grab it, carry it, throw it. Everyone sees it move.
Teleporter
Walk onto it and you're sent somewhere else in the world.
Portal
Walk in to go to another Neon world.
Rules
Code blocks, like the ones in Neon's builder. When a button is pressed, a player walks in, a timer ticks… do things: move or hide objects, play sounds and animations, show messages, keep score, teleport players. They run once for everyone and stay in sync.

Publish

  1. In Neon › World SDK, log in.
  2. Fix anything red under Checks.
  3. Click Build & publish to Neon. Publishing again updates the same world.
